Professional Licensure Disclosures
In compliance with the U.S. Department of Education and the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA), King’s College provides information pertaining to professional licensure and certification by program and state. If you are considering enrolling in a program that leads to professional licensure or certification and intend to practice in a state other than Pennsylvania, it is your responsibility to review the curriculum requirements for that state. Requirements vary from state to state and state licensure requirements are subject to change at any time. While a program may originally meet the educational requirements for licensure, changes made by a state licensing agency could affect the program’s ability to meet any new requirements. For this reason, you should periodically review the requirements for states in which you think you might work professionally. It is also important for degree-earners to review state requirements when relocating.
King’s College provides this information in response to Federal Code of Regulations, 34 CFR 668.43, which outlines institutional responsibilities for disclosing professional licensure information by the U.S. Department of Education.
Guidance for Prospective and Current Students
- If you are considering enrolling or are enrolled in a program that leads to professional licensure or certification and intend to practice in a state other than Pennsylvania, it is strongly recommended that you review the educational requirements for that state. If a student moves to a different state for any reason while participating in a program, professional licensure or certification eligibility requirement may differ and the King’s College program may or may not meet those requirements. Currently enrolled students are encouraged to contact their department chairperson or program director for additional guidance.
- It is highly recommended that international students considering enrollment in a program that leads to professional licensure or certification first confirm with the applicable professional licensing entity in their country of residence and/or country in which they intend to work as to whether the College’s program/degree is formally recognized. This includes, but is not limited to, when seeking licensure, certification, certain types of employment, and/or when enrolling in subsequent educational programs. Currently enrolled students are encouraged to contact their department chairperson or program director for additional guidance.
- King’s College is a member of the National Council for State Authorization Reciprocity Agreement (NC-SARA). This membership enables the College to offer distance learning programs in other states that are part of this reciprocity agreement. However, this reciprocity does not extend to professional licensure requirements. For questions regarding eligibility for enrollment or placements (such as internships or clinical placements) in states other than Pennsylvania, students should contact their chairperson or program director.
- Accounting Professional Licensure – Fall 2021
Educational requirements for the Certified Public Accountant (CPA) license/certification vary by state. In addition, candidates for licensure/certification generally need to satisfy additional requirements, including but not limited to completing an application, paying a fee, passing licensure exams, and work experience.
The King’s College curriculum in accounting provides the technical preparation for students who want to qualify as Certified Public Accountants (CPA’s). Changes to state requirements for attaining the designation of a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) in New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, and most other states require applicants to attain 150 credit hours of education in order to receive a CPA license to practice in those states. King’s College has designed a program of study to assist the student in attaining the necessary 150 credit hours of education in their 4 years of undergraduate study at King’s College.
In addition to these educational requirements, candidates seeking professional licensure with a state must satisfy additional requirements, including passing the CPA examination, a uniform test with its own course and credit requirements, completing an application, paying a fee and work experience
Students interested in pursuing professional CPA licensure/certification should refer to their individual state requirements. The National Association of State Boards of Accounting (NASBA) maintains a comprehensive listing of state licensing board information.
