King's College is committed to providing a learning, working, and living environment that promotes personal integrity, civility, and mutual respect in an environment free of discrimination based on sex, which includes all forms of sexual misconduct.  Sexual harassment violates an individual's fundamental rights and personal dignity. King's College considers sexual harassment, in all its forms, to be a serious offense.  This policy refers to all forms of sexual harassment, including but not limited to, sexual harassment, sexual assault, and sexual violence by employees, students, or third parties.

Title IX Statement on Non-Discrimination

King’s College is committed to equal opportunity in the admission of students, the administration of educational programs, and activities for employees and applicants for employment, without discrimination based on race, national, or ethnic origin, religion, gender, gender identity, marital status, sexual orientation, age, or disability, in accordance with applicable laws.

Sexual harassment defined

Sexual harassment based on sex is defined for this policy if any one of the following applies:

  • Any employee of the recipient conditioning the provision of aid, benefit, or service of the recipient on the individuals (complainant) participation in unwelcome sexual conduct. This form of sexual harassment is also referred to as quid pro quo.
  • Any unwelcome conduct that a reasonable person would find so severe, persuasive, and objectively offensive that if it denies a person equal educational access.
  • Any instance of dating violence, domestic violence or stalking as defined in the Violence Against Women Act (VAWA).

The policy applies to sex discrimination occurring against a person in the United States.  Offenses outside of the United States will be heard under the Student Conduct Procedures.

If one of these three conditions is met as decided by the Title IX Coordinator the case will be investigated and if appropriate, adjudicated under the Sexual Harassment Policy.  There may be other sexual misconduct offenses that may be adjudicated using the Sexual Harassment Policy procedures, for example, off-campus incidents of sexual misconduct.  Other behaviors that are offenses of the Student Code of Conduct will be adjudicated through the Student Conduct Procedures.

The Sexual Harassment and Misconduct (Title IX) policy is available on the Student Handbook web page here.
